As Ukraine seeks to assert its sovereignty, the legacy of what was once an allied relationship with Russia turned into an enemy fuel one. Ukraine and Russia was once a brotherhood to the western world however this was not the case to the ukrainians. Ukraine has always tried to get and maintain independence from Russia. From 1917 after the Russian revolution Ukraine got independence however this was short lived. This is due to the multiple factors happening and due to civil war in the country.
